Oil found on beaches near Biloxi, MS on July 8th, 2010. [...] The oil washing up on Biloxi’s beaches. [...] 58 years of living on the gulf coast i never have seen the beaches on a sunday morning so deserted. lots of clean up efforts are mostly all i saw. here are some video of the clean efforts [...] Thick, sticky oil has reached the sugar-white sands of Pensacola Beach. It is heartbreaking to see the once-beautiful beach in ruins, and with no end in sight. The dead wildlife, the devastation to the local economy and many people’s livelihoods, as well as the loss of our beautiful beaches are just the tip of the iceberg. We have only just begun to feel the impact of this disaster, the magnitude of which is simply mind-boggling. [...] Years ago when I was 15 and my older brother was 16 and my younger brother was 14, my mom and dad let us drive to Gulf Shores, Ala. We left Birmingham at night in the Mercedes Benz 190D we’d inherited from my grandfather. My parents were going to meet us at the beach house they’d rented the next day. [...] |
