MLM or multi level marketing has been around in one form or another for many, many years. Many of the brand names that you are most familiar with either are or started out as network marketing systems. Avon, Mary Kay, Tupperware and Kirby Vacuums are just some of the most familiar systems out there. Multi level marketing systems are a means of selling a product or service of some sort other in a non-retail setting. The salesman, who owns his own business, puts on a demonstration of the product for either an individual or a group of people that have been invited to the demonstration which is sometimes called a party. The hope is that, at that demonstration, some products will be purchased and that some people will be enticed to start selling the product as well.
The reason that these are called MLM or multi level marketing systems is that every person that is part of the network has people both above them and below them. Whoever recruited them is a level above, and known as the up-line. Anyone that they recruit is a level below them and becomes their down-line. Money is earned two ways through network marketing systems – by selling the product yourself and by having those that are under you sell product. You earn a portion of the profit for everything sold by those that are under you in the system. In this way, you can make money without even having to do anything!
There are many different MLM’s out there, and it can be a challenge to find one that is the right fit for you. Once you find one though, the potential is there to become successful beyond your wildest dreams. Interestingly enough, even though network marketing has been around for a very long time, there is really very little formal training material available on the subject. For those looking for a way to either earn supplemental income or to replace their current income, network marketing is a truly viable way to work smarter not harder and gain financial independence.
