Celebrants gathered along the beach and park area in Pascagoula, Mississippi to celebrate July 4th festivities and prepare to watch the evenings fireworks display. Attendees, young and old, danced to favorite songs played by a local high school band. Even swimmers forgot about the oil spill for the day, swimming and playing just outside the yellow and black floating booms. The beach area, normally scattered with workers in blue tee-shirts, seems to be now used as a training area for oil workers. But for this day, it was open to public to enjoy the Independence Day Celebrations. To date, at least for this area, no oil was to be seen in the water or upon the seawall. But reports continue to be made that oil has made it to shore around the Biloxi area.
