Ok first things first, what is the definition of a Facebook slap? My definition of the Facebook slap is not the by Facebook at all. It’s by what makes Facebook, Facebook. It’s by people who use Facebook as a marketing strategy. While never physical in nature this can be very painful and frustrating to the person who is receiving it. Not to long ago I received the Facebook slap myself, this was because I was adamant about promoting my business on Facebook and using Facebook as a business strategy. You have to remember that when you’re connecting on Facebook it’s exactly like you’re walking into peoples homes. People have dedicated Time &Energy into decorating and laying out their Facebook page. A display of pictures and videos makes their Facebook page a personal space and continues to feel like an extension home. Think about it this way how would you feel if your new friend came over and walked into your home and before they even said hello they started talking about selling you the idea of joining them in their business or buying this awesome new product they have. It is not functional and in fact it is uncomfortable and not expected at all. There is a good reason why companies spend millions on pre selling you in ads before you get to the store, it is because you the consumer have to be comfortable with the idea of buying. It has to be the consumer’s idea period. Of course it’s a great idea, you thought of it, am I right? Well that is what I thought to. Well I couldn’t have been more wrong or farther from the truth. Now that I know how easy it is to avoid the Facebook slap. I am free to make as many connections as I want and have no fear of simply saying hello! I know you’re still left wondering, well Nick how do I sell my goods on Facebook? Do you really want my answer? My answer to this big mystery is very simple and you’re going to love it! It will save you countless hours of lost Time & Energy; it will save you from getting slapped in the head! Well here it is, you don’t sell anything on Facebook! You brand your self and what it is that makes you,” you”. To use Facebook properly to generate leads and sales, you have to use Facebook as it was meant to be used. You have to use Facebook for what it was designed to be used for. Social networking is what Facebook was built for, making a connection in its purest form. Facebook can be used as a tool or a frame work for building a relationship with someone anywhere in the world, and I believe eventually even in space! Could you imagine chatting with someone that lives on a space station a few hundred million miles away using a tool like Facebook? I for one think that would be just awesome!
