Drake was sick a couple weeks ago and had explosive diarrhea and then very mucusy stools. It went 2 feet OUTSIDE of his crate it was so bad. I immediately did the rice and chicken diet and his stool firmed up pretty quickly. Now that he is back on straight dry food (California Natural Puppy – Chicken and Rice) His stools are very soft and cowpie like again.
We also give him diatomaceous earth daily since he had a hard time kicking the giardia. He just had a fecal done last week (while having the diarrhea and mucus stools) and it came back negative.
I want to try switching the food since it seems that is the culprit now and no longer giardia. Any one know of a brand that helps keep the stool firm?
