Hi everyone! I am new to this site and very thankful for it. I/we couldn’t be happier about our new addition to our family, 2-year-old Lucy, a pit bull/basenji mix. When we adopted her, she was just, I mean JUST released from heartworm treatment, the following day, we had to take her for her post-check-up. The vet there said that she is soooooo much better than the first time she saw her a few weeks ago, gave her a steroid and an antibotic to take, and said to keep her on restricted activity for a least 4 weeks. What I am wondering, because I’ve never had a dog post-heartworm treatment, what is normal??? She sleeps ALOT! Doesn’t really eat either unless it is wet food and she doesn’t even finish a normal helping with that either. I just am wondering or asking from anyone if they have gone through this what is normal, what to expect, how long until she is back to normal????? I am so confused and can’t seem to find any straight answers online. Also, her potty schedule is all out of wack to, is this normal??? Help please!!! We just want to help her as much as we can, we love her so much already and it’s only been 6 days.
