Frugal and Faithful: Old Becomes New Again

My husband I recently watched the movie The Passion Of The Christ for the first time. (I know, I know I can’t believe its taken us so long either!) My husband kept pushing for us to watch it and for some reason I kept resisting. Not sure if its because I didn’t want to face what I would see or why, but I knew that I had to. If you’ve seen the movie, then you know how graphic it is and how moving it was. There were moments that I wanted to shut my eyes, there were moments where I wanted to throw up, and there were moments where I just wanted to cry.

In the movie, when Jesus was on His way Calvary, Mary came up to Him. He looked over at her and said “I make all things new”. This is a powerful statement. He was in pain, suffering and walking to His death at that very moment and still He recognized that He loved us and was going to make anyone who believed in Him new again and free from sin.

With Easter coming up next weekend, that movie brought about a whole new light to my thoughts of just what He went through for us.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

– 2 Corinthians 5:17
